What Folder Should I Upload My Files
When uploading your website files, you might be confused about which folder you should put them in on your hosting server.
Whether you're uploading your files using an FTP client (Filezilla, CuteFTP, Cyberduck, etc.) or through your Hosting Manager, make sure you're putting your website files in the correct folder.
For Linux Hosting
-
Upload the website files for the primary domain inside the public_html folder.
-
If you're uploading files for a subdomain or add-on domain, put them in its specific folder inside the public_html folder. For example, if you've added newdomain.com as an add-on domain in your hosting account, cPanel will automatically create a subfolder for it inside the public_html folder. Make sure to upload your files there.
For Windows Hosting
-
Upload the website files for the primary domain inside the httpdocs folder.
-
For subdomain or add-on domain website files, upload them in their specific subdomain or add-on domain folder. For example, if you've added subdomain.com as a subdomain in your Windows hosting account, the system will automatically create a folder for that domain. Make sure to upload your files there.
