Request Change of Domain Name Ownership
A Domain Registrant is an individual or company that purchases a domain name. Upon purchase and registration, the Registrant automatically becomes the legal owner of the domain name.
If you want to transfer, change, or update the registrant of your domain name, you must request a Change of Domain Name Ownership (COO) from Freeparking. Since this is an Administration and Registry update, this cannot be directly changed through your Account Dashboard.
NOTE: The new owner or new registrant will need a Freeparking account to where your domain name should be transferred. If they don’t have an existing account, they must create one here.
Below is a guide on how you can change your domain name’s owner or registrant.
Requesting a Change of Domain Ownership
STEP 1: Download the COO form via Freeparking Dashboard.
- Log in to your dashboard.
- From the Product Navigation pane, click Domains. If you have several domain names, select the one you need to update.
- Scroll down to the Administration section.
- Hover your mouse over Registrant Contact, then click the Change Owner button.
- Click Download Update Form.
Step 2: Fill out the COO form.
After downloading the form, fill out all the necessary fields with the appropriate information.
IMPORTANT: Both current and new owner must affix their handwritten signatures. Digital or e-signatures will not be accepted as a valid COO form.
Step 3: Submit the request via our Contact Form.
- Go to https://www.freeparking.co.nz/contact/.
- Fill out the required information. Refer to the guide below:
- Select Department: Select "Support"
- Category: Select "Domains"
- Your Name, Domain or Customer ID: Enter your name, domain or customer ID associated with your request
- Your Email: Enter your active email address
- Phone Number: Enter an active contact number
- Your Subject: Enter "Request Change of Domain Name Ownership"
- Please provide full details of your enquiry here: State the details of your change of domain name ownership request.
- Click Attach files and upload the following requirements:
- A completely filled-out COO form, and
- A copy of any government-issued ID for both current and new domain owners.
- Click SEND EMAIL to complete your request.
