WorldPay Technology
A range of integration methods are provided
through WorldPay Select™ to meet the needs of a diverse community
of E-commerce traders. These methods provide support for solutions from
small one-off customised applications through to large organisations
integrating their own legacy systems with the help of third-party
developers.
WorldPay Select payment pages are responsible for capturing
shopper card details, removing the need for the customer to have a
secure web-server or secure shopper databases, whilst a callback model
allows the customer site to respond appropriately to card
authorisations. This callback system can be used to provide information
to web applications that need to be dynamically updated in response to
authorisation messages.
All transactions are encrypted using 128 bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
architecture (dependent on browser support), and are signed using Thawte
digital certificates.
Payment Pages
Building and maintaining confidence in the
Internet as a safe environment to conduct E-commerce is critical. To
remove the burden from you of having to install and maintain a secure
infrastructure, WorldPay handles the point of transaction within any
given solution.
This means that, as soon as a customer has finished selecting the items
they wish to buy, they are routed to the WorldPay secure environment and
payment pages and only at this point are they invited to enter their
credit or debit card details.
The WorldPay payment pages are therefore a 'secure extension' of
your own shop within which it is safe to transact. Once an authorisation
or decline is received from the card schemes, the response and the
customer are 'passed back' to your store.

Payment Pages, you must integrate your store to WorldPay. See

Security
WorldPay has a range of security solutions to
make E-commerce a safe trading environment for you and your customers.
For obvious reasons, the detail on this is confidential, however
WorldPay can confirm that all transactions processed are encrypted using
128 bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) architecture (supported by almost all
web browsers) and are signed using Thawte digital certificates.
Because the credit card entry form is generated by and transmitted
directly to the WorldPay server, the security of the server that your
website is hosted on is immaterial. You do not have to be responsible
for the security of Credit Card information.
It is important to recognise that WorldPay security solution has been
endorsed by leading global banks.
Pre-Auth Option
WorldPay supports Pre-Authorised payments. When
the shopper enters their Credit Card details, WorldPay validates the
card with the issuing bank and puts a hold on the amount, but does not
debit the shopper's account immediately. You then have five days to
complete the transaction via the WorldPay CMS before the transaction
lapses. This allows you to check inventory (many online shopping systems
do not have live inventory management, so you can run out of stock), or
do a manual quote on non-standard shipping etc. before completing the
transaction.
Pre-authorisation also helps if your store receives many fraudulent
transactions (e.g. using stolen cards that have not yet been reported).
If you receive a suspicious transaction (e.g. high value with a shipping
address in a 'risky' country), you can contact the buyer for
further verification that they are genuine. This saves having to process
refunds or worse still, incurring chargebacks.
Customer Management System(CMS)
CMS is a service provided to all WorldPay
merchants that enables them to access their account information online.
Access to the system is provided by username and password, and upon
entering the system you can view the transactions passing through your
account.
Information provided within this system not only contains your
shoppers' names, addresses, value of transactions etc. but also your
settlement details and currency conversion rates (if applicable). This
facility will give you the peace of mind that your transactions are
being processed and the information relating to them is being safely
recorded. This is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is
updated in real-time giving you access to your information when it is
needed.
