
Rules for Domain Name Transfers
.nz domains
- A .nz domain may not be transferred within 5 days of initial registration.
- Expired .nz domains may be transferred up to 89 days after expiry.
- The expiry date after transfer may not be more than 10 years in the future.
- Proof of ownership/authority to transfer is provided by the UDAI key for the domain.
.com and .net domains
- A .com or .net domain may not be transferred within 60 days of initial registration.
- The Domain must not be locked.

- Expired .com or .net domains may not be transferred.
- The expiry date after transfer may not be more than 10 years in the future.
- Proof of ownership/authority to transfer is established by the registry (and sometimes also the losing registrar) emailing the current registrant.
.org, .biz, .info domains
- A .org, .biz or .info domain may not be transferred within 60 days of initial registration.
- Expired .org, .biz or .info domains may not be transferred.
- The expiry date after transfer may not be more than 10 years in the future.
- Proof of ownership/authority to transfer is provided by the EPP key for the domain.
