My Account FAQ's
I have forgotten my password for 'My Account'
Enter your domain name or username into the 'forgotten password' page on our website:
https://secure.freeparking.co.nz/login/remind
This will send an email to the contact address on record.
If the email address on record is no longer correct, please complete the Email Address Change Form below.
How do I change my password?
Once logged into ‘My Account’, you can change your password from the ‘Details’ section.
What do I do if the contact email address on record for me is no longer valid?
If you have lost your account username/password and you can’t receive the ‘forgotten password’ email (because the email address that Freeparking has on record for you is no longer correct), please complete the Email Address Change Form below:
How do I change my contact details?
You can update your contact details by logging into ‘My Account’:
https://secure.freeparking.co.nz/
Once logged in, click on the ‘Details’ tab – from here, you can update the default contact details for your Freeparking account.
You can also add additional default contacts (such as a different ‘billing’ or ‘designer’ contact) from the bottom of this page if needed.
In most cases, your individual domains and services would share the ‘default’ contact details for your account; however it is possible to change these details individually via the ‘Services’ tab if required.
If you need to change the ‘Registrant’ of a domain name, you would need to perform a Registrant transfer on it.
What can I do with "My Account"
Create and update your free Single Page Site
One of great features Freeparking offers our domain name customers is the ability to create their own 'Single Page Site' for free.
The 'Single Page Site' tools are provided via the 'Services' section of 'My Account'.
In order to use the free Single Page Site, the domain name must be using Freeparking DNS servers (ns.freeparking.co.nz and ns2.freeparking.co.nz) and also be pointing to the Freeparking ‘parked domain’ IP Address (210.48.108.70).
You would see a message under the Single Page Site section advising you if these requirements are not met.
For further information on how to use the Single Page Site tools, please see the Single Page Site section under these FAQs.
Set up free URL Redirection for your domain name
If you have registered a domain name that you just want to point to an existing website, you can set up this redirection for no charge under My Account.
Once logged in, select the domain name service you wish to redirect, locate the 'Domain Redirection' tool and enter in the destination URL (website name) you want it to point to.
If you don’t want people to see the true website address you are pointing to, then switch on the 'cloaking' feature as this will keep your domain name in the browser address bar instead of reverting it to the destination URL.
View a list of your domain names and their expiry dates
Once logged in to the 'My Account' facility, you can view, sort and manage all your services from the ‘Services’ tab. You can request to be emailed a detailed list of your services from there.
Renew a domain name or bulk renew several domain names together
Once logged into the ‘My Account’ facility, you can renew your services via the ‘Renewals’ tab. This tool will allow you to select which services you wish to renew, and generate an invoice which you can select to pay.
Change the DNS servers for your domain name
You can change the DNS servers your domain uses via the ‘Domain Name Servers’ option.
Your DNS server settings dictate things like where your domain name points to on the Internet, and how email to your domain name is handled.
When you register a domain name with Freeparking, the domain name will be set to use our DNS servers (ns.freeparking.co.nz and ns2.freeparking.co.nz) by default.
Edit the DNS records Freeparking holds for your domain name
You are able to edit the following DNS Records using the ‘Name Server Records’ tool in ‘My Account’:
- IP Number (A record) - point your domain name to your website.
- Aliases (CName record) - an alias of a canonical name
- Mail servers (MX Record) - define your email server(s)
- Descriptive Records (TXT Record) - apply text records for other information (such as SPF records)
The 'Edit DNS Records' option will not be viewable under My Account if your domain name is not currently using the Freeparking DNS servers (ns.freeparking.co.nz and ns2.freeparking.co.nz).
If you wish to edit your DNS records, then you must first change your DNS server settings to use Freeparking's DNS servers, which you can do using the 'Domain Name Servers' button.
Request a UDAI or EPP authorisation code for a domain name
If you are planning to transfer your domain name to another Registrar you will need to obtain a UDAI (for .nz domains) or an EPP Key (for TLD domains) and provide this to your new Registrar.
Once logged in to 'My Account, get to the domain’s management page via the 'Services' tab – from here you can 'Request Transfer'. This will send the authorisation code to the registrant email contact for the domain.
Update the contact details for individual domain names
You can change the contact details associated with a particular domain name by logging into your 'My Account' facility, selecting the domain via the 'Services' tab, and selecting to modify the contact details.
Update the contact details for your account
The 'Default' contact details can be updated from the 'Details' tab within 'My Account'.
The default account contact details are used whenever you register a new domain name under that account.
Initiate a Registrant Transfer to change the ownership of a domain name
A Registrant Transfer is the name given to the process of changing the legal holder or "owner" of a registered domain name.
Please see the Registrant transfer FAQ for details.
Request a list of your domain names to be sent to you via email
From your 'My Account' facility, you can request to be emailed a detailed list of your services via the ‘Services’ tab.
