Resolved - thog.hosts.net.nz - Emergency server replacement

Issued: 11 March 2010, 1:15 pm
Updated: 11 March 2010, 8:55 pm
The server thog.hosts.net.nz is showing hardware faults and requires immediate replacement. We are restoring the server from the backup taken this morning and we will swap to the replacement server as soon as the restore is complete.

FTP has been disabled on the server during the restore as files uploaded at this time will not be included in the restore. During the restore process we will continue running the webserver on the current hardware.

Email services for affected sites are on a seperate system and will not be affected by the hardware fault and restore.

UPDATE:

The restore has been compelted from this mornings backup and the server is fully back online.

If you are missing files from your site that you might have created today, please contact support@freeparking.co.nz to see if they can retrieve them for you - this will be a best effort attempt, the old server has disks faults and we may not be able to get all the files back from it.

Open - System upgrade scam

Issued: 13 October 2009, 12:00 pm
Updated: 13 October 2009, 12:00 pm
There is a scam email currently circulating which claims that we are going to be doing a system upgrade. The email contains a link to a patch which it asks you to download and install.

Do not download the file. It will most likely contain a virus.

If you have any concerns about the scam email, please contact the support desk. Please see below for an example of what the email looks like.

Attention!

On October 16, 2009 server upgrade will take place. Due to this the system may be offline for approximately half an hour.
The changes will concern security, reliability and performance of mail service and the system as a whole.
For compatibility of your browsers and mail clients with upgraded server software you should run SSl certificates update procedure.
This procedure is quite simple. All you have to do is just to click the link provided, to save the patch file and then to run it from your computer location. That's all.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter and sorry for possible inconveniences.

Open - Security Notice- Webmail quota warning scam

Issued: 3 July 2009, 10:00 am
Updated: 3 July 2009, 10:00 am
Currently there is a email going around saying that your webmail has gone over its quota. It goes on to ask for your Name, Email ID and Password. This email is a scam, do not respond to it.

We do send out notices when you get near your quota and go over it. These notices will never ask for your username and password. If you receive a quota warning message and you are unsure just forward the message to us, asking us if its a scam or not.
